Rugs, carpets & salons · Tangier
Rug and carpet cleaning in Tangier.
Berber rugs, kilims, carpets, sofas and Moroccan salons. We collect them from you, treat them at our facility with controlled drying, and bring them back dry and back in shape.
A rug is not cleaned like a sheet. It is a thick piece, often wool, dyed with colours that can bleed, on a weave that tolerates neither too much water nor rough drying. Most damaged rugs in Tangier were not ruined by dirt but by an improvised wash on a terrace.
IT’s Clean handles rugs at our facility on the same logic as hotel linen: a controlled route, measured products, and drying — the stage where everything is actually decided.
What we handle
- Berber and wool rugs — Beni Ouarain, Boucherouite, Rabat rugs and handmade pieces, whose wool needs gentle handling and slow drying.
- Kilims and flatweaves, more fragile under twisting and prone to colour bleed.
- Moroccan salons — seats, backs and cushions, often in heavy fabric and rarely cleaned right through.
- Sofas and armchairs in fabric, including heavily used hotel pieces.
- Fitted carpet in rooms, corridors and offices, loose-laid or glued down.
- Synthetic and machine-made rugs, more forgiving but holding dust deep in the pile.
Why drying matters more than washing
This is what almost everyone overlooks. A wool rug soaked through and left in the sun warps, shrinks in places and can see its colours bleed from one motif into another. Dried too slowly in a closed room, it develops a musty smell that settles into the weave and never leaves.
A thick rug holds several times its own weight in water. Getting it out of the water is not the hard part: extracting it properly and then drying it under controlled conditions is what separates a rug that comes back to itself from one that is marked for good.
Stains, and what to do before calling us
On a rug, the instinctive reaction does as much damage as the stain. Three simple rules:
- Blot, do not rub. Rubbing drives the soiling into the weave and breaks the surface fibres, leaving a dull patch that shows even after cleaning.
- Do not use bleach or shop-bought stain remover on dyed wool: the colour loss is immediate and permanent.
- Do not let it dry. A fresh stain lifts far better than one that has oxidised for a week — call us quickly rather than trying first.
Collection and delivery to your door
You do not have to move your rugs. We agree a slot, come and collect them, and bring them back once dry and back in shape. For glued-down carpet that cannot be lifted, we work on site after a visit.
We cover Tangier centre, the Medina, Malabata, Marchan, Boubana, Cap Spartel, Iberia, Val Fleuri, the Free Zone and the Tanger Med corridor.
For hotels, riads and offices
Corridor carpet and room rugs are among the most visible things in a property, and among the least often maintained. Marked corridor carpet tells a guest at once that the place is letting itself go, however spotless the rooms are.
We run this work in rotation, floor by floor or zone by zone, so a whole level is never out of use. It is the same planning logic as for your room linen, and it can sit on the same contract.
Our products
As with linen, we work with the ranges of the Belgian group Christeyns, a growing share of which carries the EU Ecolabel. Our approach to products is set out on the eco-minded hygiene page.
Getting a quote
The price depends on the area, the material and the condition. The simplest thing is to send us a photo and rough dimensions on WhatsApp: we come back with an estimate, free and with no obligation.
How long do you keep my rug?
The time depends mostly on thickness and material, because drying a wool rug cannot be rushed without damaging it. We give you a return date when we collect, and we keep to it. If it is urgent, tell us: we adjust the schedule where we can.
Might the colours of my Berber rug bleed?
That is the main risk on handmade pieces dyed with natural colours. We test colourfastness on a discreet area before treating the whole piece. If the dye is unstable we tell you and adjust the treatment rather than take the risk.
Do you clean glued-down carpet that cannot be lifted?
Yes, in that case we work on site after a visit to assess the area, the material and the access. For a hotel or an office we run the job zone by zone so a whole level is never out of use at once.
Do I have to bring the rug to your facility?
No. We collect it from you and bring it back once dry and back in shape, in Tangier and the surrounding area. You carry nothing.
