Why a domestic machine is not enough

Many small properties start with a household washing machine. It works up to a point, and then the limits become visible to guests:

• White goes dull. Without professional handling, white linen greys little by little — a grey you stop noticing yourself, because it creeps in slowly, but which a guest sees at once on a pillow.
• Ironing does not hold. A hand-ironed sheet keeps its fold lines. The ironer gives a taut, unmarked surface that no hand iron reproduces.

No minimum volume imposed in advance: pricing is built on your actual volume, by the kilo or by the piece, and on whatever frequency suits you. A four-room house with two visits a week and a twelve-room riad with daily collection follow the same logic, at different scales.

Collection and delivery happen at your address — there is nothing to drop off at the facility. Handling same-day changeovers

This is the constraint particular to short lets: a departure in the morning, an arrival in the afternoon. Two things work well together:

• A second set of linen per bed. You always have clean stock in reserve while the other set is being handled. It is the best-value investment a small property can make.
• The 24-hour express service, available every day from 10am to 10pm (supplement of around 30% depending on volume and facility availability), for tight runs of bookings.

Time — the time you were giving to the laundry. Space — a freed-up wash room becomes storage or another bedroom. A legible cost, proportional to your activity, instead of a mix of machine depreciation, water, electricity, detergent and breakdowns.
